no walleyeOntario has approved a regulation to close the walleye fishery on Lake Scugog as of January 1, 2016. Starting in the New Year, no walleye fishing will be allowed on the lake until further notice. The walleye population in Lake Scugog has been monitored by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry for decades and the data collected indicates recent declines in the walleye population. Ontario is taking action now to ensure Lake Scugog’s walleye population remains healthy and sustainable in the future. The seasons for other fish species on Lake Scugog are not affected by this decision and will remain open to recreational angling under current regulations.  For more information on open seasons and special regulations please check the Ontario Fishing Regulations Summary.
