Johnson thinfisher

It’s been a LONG winter!…You can say that again!

For anglers who have been patiently waiting for the spring to show it’s face, well it’s time to get out on the water!

This past week I managed to get down to Lake Erie for some multi-species fun with Paul Michele from Navionics and we weren’t disappointed!

It seemed liked the fish were just as excited as we were to finally do some fishing, as our trip was full of Walleye, Perch and Smallmouth Bass, which came from the US side. As you very well may know, Ontario has strict guidelines and fishing seasons for each species of fish, and seeing as we only live a stone throw from Buffalo, it gives us the opportunity to do some Bass fishing too.

Johnson thinfisher NavionicsThe fish were still deep and the water was still cold, so jigging was the ticket. With warmer weather on the horizon though, it will only be a matter of time before the wave of spawning begins, especially for Smallmouth.

On this calm day of fishing, the Johnson ThinFishers were producing the most, as we caught 39 Bass, 15 Perch and 8 Walleye. It was definitely one of those outings that felt great to finally hit the water, but it made it that much more enjoyable that the fishing was on fire.

As usual, we searched different areas but found the fish to be stacked in 20 – 23 feet of water, and our light equipment was key to feeling those deep water bites.

Fishing is Ontario is finally here and it’s going to be a great season!  See you on the water!
